About the Role
We are a UK-licensed Electronic Money Institution (EMI) looking for a highly driven Finance Controller / Senior Accountant & Treasury Specialist to take ownership of our finance function.

This is a strategic yet hands-on role. You will design and implement the full financial infrastructure of the company, covering accounting, treasury, reporting, and controls. Initially, you will be directly involved in executing all financial processes, from daily treasury operations to regulatory and management reporting. As the company grows, you will build, lead, and mentor a finance team, shaping the department’s culture, processes, and governance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish, own, and continuously improve the finance, accounting, and treasury framework from the ground up.
  • Manage treasury operations: cash flow management, liquidity planning, reconciliations, and funding structures.
  • Oversee preparation of regulatory, statutory, tax, and management reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Ensure compliance with UK GAAP / IFRS standards and liaise with auditors, tax advisors, and regulators as needed.
  • Develop and document finance policies, manuals, and procedures to create a scalable, well-governed function.
  • Provide the Board and senior management with accurate financial insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Monitor financial risks, controls, and internal governance to maintain a robust control environment.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning cycles.• Act as the trusted financial partner of the leadership team, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Recruit, train, and manage a finance team as the business scales, fostering high performance and accountability.
Requirements
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • Solid experience as a Senior Accountant, Finance Controller, or Treasury
  • Specialist within fintech, payments, banking, or financial services.
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP, IFRS, and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Hands-on experience in treasury operations, liquidity management, reconciliations, and cash flow planning.
  • Proven ability to set up financial processes and controls from scratch.
  • Experience in preparing and submitting regulatory financial reports in the UK context (advantage).
  • High level of accountability, ownership, and ability to manage complexity.
  • Strong leadership skills - capable of building and managing a finance team over time.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to present financial insights to senior stakeholders clearly.
  • Languages: Fluent English is required. Russian language skills are a strong advantage.
