About the Role
We are a UK-licensed Electronic Money Institution (EMI) looking for a highly driven Finance Controller to take ownership of our finance function and support the company through its next growth stage.

This is a strategic yet hands-on role where you will own the financial backbone of the business - ensuring clean, audit-ready numbers, strong internal controls, and reliable reporting across all key areas (month-end close, reconciliations, regulatory reporting, budgeting and forecasting). You will help build a scalable finance function aligned with the expectations of a regulated fintech/EMI environment.

This position is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced fintech environments, brings structure and precision, and wants to make a direct impact on a scaling business.
Key Responsibilities
  • Establish, own, and continuously improve the finance and accounting framework
  • Lead month-end close and ensure accurate financial reporting (P&L, balance sheet, management accounts)
  • Own balance sheet reconciliations and ensure integrity of financial data
  • Oversee statutory and management reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Ensure compliance with UK GAAP / IFRS and maintain audit readiness
  • Liaise with auditors, tax advisors, and external stakeholders
  • Develop and document finance policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning cycles
  • Provide leadership with insights to support strategic decision-making
  • Monitor financial risks and strengthen governance and controls
  • Support regulatory reporting in line with UK EMI expectations (advantage)
  • Support hiring and development of a finance team as the business scales
Requirements
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
  • Proven experience as a Finance Controller (or similar role) within fintech, payments, banking, or financial services
  • Strong knowledge of UK GAAP, IFRS, and statutory reporting requirements
  • Strong ownership and attention to detail; ability to manage complexity
  • Ability to build and improve finance processes and controls
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with senior stakeholders
  • Fluent English required; Russian is a strong advantage
